How do I read a product's reviews?
If you have not been taken straight to the product's reviews page (e.g. via a bookmark or web-search result), you need to:
- Select the appropriate store - Argos, Tesco Direct or Woolworths - from the list above
- Enter the relevant product code
- In the case of Woolworths, click Look up
- Click Reviews
How do I add a product review?
First of all you must be registered as a member, and logged in with your email address and password. Next, follow the steps as given above to navigate to a product's reviews page. Then:
- Click Add my own review
- Enter up to 1000 characters of text into the General comments box
- Enter up to 250 characters of text into each of the Good points and Bad points boxes; if you want the text separated into bullet points, press return between each point
- Click on your chosen "star ratings"
- Click Save to store the review
Can I add a review for a product that's not yet on CSR?
Absolutely! When following the procedure above it doesn't matter whether the product is already listed here. If it isn't yet listed, a listing will be automatically created. The only limitation for adding new products is that they must be current on the relevant store's website so we can look up their name based on their product code.
How do I add another review of the same product?
We permit each member to publish one review per product. If you want to add to what you have already written about a product you must edit its review.
How do I edit a review I've already written?
Within the relevant product's page, you can either click Edit my own review at the foot of the list of reviews, or find your review in the list and click Edit. Proceed as with adding a new review.
Can I advertise in a review?
Catalogue Shopping Review is not a forum for selling stuff for personal gain, and "reviews" that attempt to do so (including "get it free" referral schemes and similar) are likely to be deleted without warning.
Is there a mobile version of the site?
We've provided a cut down version of the site you can access from any WAP-compatible phone, and look up reviews while you're leafing through the catalogue in-store. Bookmark m.csreview.co.uk on your mobile today and never get caught short again!
Which stores do you support?
Currently we allow most products at Argos, Tesco Direct and Woolworths to be reviewed. This list is expanding as we find other suitable retailers to add.
Do you have an affiliation with these stores?
At present, no - and if at any time we do establish a working relationship with them in order to enhance our members' and visitors' experience, it is our aim to remain independent.
Can I buy reviewed products via CSR?
You can click on the Buy this button on any product's reviews page, to go to the relevant product on the store's website, where you can purchase it if you like. If a product has been discontinued, this facility may not work. In line with the above question, we do not take any commission on purchases initiated via this button.
Why can't you do an automatic look-up on Woolworths products?
Most of our retailers use a fixed length product code, so we know when you've finished typing it. Woolworths, for whatever reason, have codes that are currently between five and nine digits in length, and do not follow a sufficiently obvious pattern to enable automatic detection. If and when we discover the logic behind Woolworths' codes, we'll turn on automatic look-up.
Which number is the product code at Woolworths?
If you are using the printed catalogue, it's easy: just go with the Cat. No. for a given product. If you are using the website, usually it's the Sku Code but sometimes the Product Id. Please try the other if the number you enter isn't recognised or displays a completely wrong product name. We want to improve this, but while Woolworths are so inconsistent we cannot make any promises when it will happen.
Why was the product code I entered not recognised?
A product code may not be recognised for one of several reasons. The product may be discontinued or not be available for sale via the relevant store's website. However, occasionally the store's website does not respond to our request, so it's worth trying typing the number again. If you are looking up a Woolworths product, please see the above question! If you repeatedly cannot get CSR to recognise a product code that it definitely should, please contact us with details and we'll look into it.
How do I change my displayed name, my email address or my password?
Log in, and review your member settings. If you change your email address it will need to be verified before it can be used as part of your log-in details.
Can I search for a product I don't know the code for?
Yes, you can use the new search facility. It will search for product names containing all the words provided. If you want to search for a specific phrase, put it in quote marks like this: "specific phrase".
Is there a simple list of all reviewed products?
Yes, it's here. This page helps Google and other search engines index the site, and you can browse the list too if you want.
