Rayman Raving Rabbids - Wii from Argos
This is just one in a sequence of Rayman games (its reportedly inferior sequel is already available) but it's immediately accessible without having followed the story to date. The games are played over 15 "days" where each day has four mini-game events (you must succeed with at least three) plus an extra longer game which must be completed to register the day's success. You can play as many "days" in a session as you like! The games are generally quite simple in their control mechanism, each only using two or three actions with the Wii remote (and sometimes the nunchuk), but there's lots of variety between the games. Some of the actions recur in different games, but often with a variation for novelty's sake.
Good points:
  • Lots of variety in the games, using the Wii controllers well
  • Exquisite attention to detail in the graphics, sound and music
  • Funny games and cut scenes
  • Once each day is unlocked, its games can be played in score mode for more longevity
  • Cheap at Argos!
Bad points:
  • A few of the games are not that satisfying
  • Some of the games may be a bit "dark" for kids
  • For some reason the controls are buggy on a few games (e.g. "Bunnies have natural rhythm") in 50Hz mode; use 60Hz if your television supports it
